The first initiative to conduct simulator training in the kingdom with trainees from Uzbekistan.
The Higher Institute for Water and Power Technologies (HIWPT) intensified its short course programs by conducting various trainings for the first quarter of 2023 in industrial plant operations and maintenance, including simulator plant operations, reverse osmosis, combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT), and thermal power plants.
HIWPT also expanded the scope of its short course by offering training sessions in a simulator operational program in CCGT for Uzbekistan engineers, a first-ever initiative conducted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in cooperation with NOMAC Uzbekistan, which has a CCGT project in Shirin city in the Sirdarya region.
According to Engr. Hazem Salameh, Head of Continuous Education at HIWPT, ten Uzbek engineers successfully completed the training requirements. “The engineers were divided into two batches, each with five trainees in two-week sessions. The first batch was held on January 8–19, 2023, and the second batch was on January 29–February 9, 2023, both for CCGT simulator training.”
On the other hand, Engr. Salameh added that training in the fields of reverse osmosis, CCGT, and thermal power plants was provided to nine batches totaling 150 trainees from different plants run by NOMAC in the kingdom.
He further added that the training started on January 15, 2023 and lasted on March 16, 2022 wherein trainees were divided in various group depending on the needs of training disciplines particularly in operations and maintenance.
“The goal is to prepare trainees to perform professionally in the field by providing them with relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies. We are proud of the training’s outcome because we received excellent feedback from the participants, which was exactly what we expected given that we want them to add value to the company through this learning development,” Engr. Salameh concluded.
